A message from the Honorary Remembrancer - Liveryman A John Ellis CBE Dear Members of the Company, I regret to inform you of the very sad passing of Liveryman Arthur John Ellis CBE on Sunday 5th November 2023. We have received the following announcement from his son, Liveryman Kevin Ellis: A John Ellis CBE (22/8/1932 - 5/11/2023) A lifetime in our industry Having left school in 1946, just shy of his 14th birthday, John explored various career paths. Following his national service in Malaysia, he joined Elders & Fyffes on 9 February 1953, ultimately becoming Managing Director in 1969. He remained dedicated to the company for over 50 years, steering it successfully through numerous industry and societal changes until his retirement in 2004. In addition to his role at Elders & Fyffes, John chaired the NSDO and Intervention Board, contributing significantly to broader initiatives. Viewing life through a lens of positivity and enjoyment, he peacefully passed away in Salisbury, where he had lived for the last 3 years.
